Android 15 can present full-color app icons in standing bar and on AOD

For years now, Android has been exhibiting utility icons within the standing bar, to point a brand new notification from an app, in subdued colors. Nicely, Google is making Android 15 able to exhibiting these in full color and monochrome as properly.

In keeping with a new report from Android Authority, Android 15’s supply code has two new flags for app icons that it will probably present within the standing bar. One replaces the icon provided by an app to be used within the standing bar with that app’s full-colour icon that you just see on the Play Retailer, house display, or app drawer. The opposite replaces the icon provided by an app to be used within the standing bar with that app’s monochrome icon (if it helps adaptive icons). You’ll be able to try each of these together with the default possibility within the photographs beneath.

As you may see, full-colour icons make it simpler to acknowledge the app. Monochrome icons appear to have points with distinction. Nonetheless, as soon as Google fixes the issue, they could look nice, providing a uniform look together with adaptive icons on the house display or app drawer. It’s value stating that the OS also can apply this transformation to app icons on always-on show (AOD). Which means it will probably present app icons in default, full shade, or monochrome look in your telephone’s or pill’s AOD as properly. That is neat.

If Google decides to maneuver forward with the change, Android 15 will almost certainly provide choices to go together with default icons, monochrome icons, or full-colour icons. Hopefully, Samsung will implement the brand new characteristic with its upcoming One UI 7.0.
