After changing “Library” with the “Collections” tab in August, the following notable change to Google Images is an “Updates” feed instead of “Sharing.”
Replace 11/7: Google has made official the brand new Updates web page as a “vacation spot within the Images app that makes catching up on new exercise simpler than ever.” The objective is to “streamline how one can view latest exercise with an interface that makes albums, teams, and conversations extra accessible.”
This feed is grouped by “immediately, yesterday, this week, this month, final month, and past.” You’ll particularly see:
- Updates to a shared album
- Updates to a dialog
- Updates to a gaggle dialog
- Accomplice sharing updates
- Reminiscence updates
- Storage updates
In the meantime, to entry shared albums, Google factors customers to the Collections tab > Albums. Should you swipe down, there are filters for: All, Shared with me, and My albums.
The Updates web page is coming to Google Images for Android and iOS “over the approaching weeks.”
Authentic 11/3: Beforehand, Google Images had a Sharing web page that you simply accessed from a ‘individuals’ icon in-between the ‘plus’ menu and your profile avatar. It began with high-level shortcuts for “Create shared album” and “Share with associate.” This was adopted by an “Albums and Recollections” carousel. Lastly, you had a listing of “Conversations.”
You now get a notification bell icon within the app bar to “See latest sharing updates, together with conversations and shared hyperlinks.” This opens an “Updates” feed. The overflow menu allows you to entry:
- Sharing exercise: Shared hyperlinks, Shared recollections, and Conversations
- Conversations
It’s not shocking that Google is deemphasising the messaging system that’s Conversations, whereas a bell icon in that high bar is a standard UI conference throughout Google apps, together with Residence, the Play Retailer, and YouTube
We’re seeing Updates rolled out to Google Images for Android, however not iOS.
