This will depend on telephone and model. Do you continue to have an iPhone with a bodily ringer swap? Use that. The swap place in the direction of you turns the ringer on. (I appear to recall that there was a capability to disconnect the swap with this setting within the System Preferences -> Sound choices, however I now use an iPhone 15 so I can not confirm. However…)
Do you’ve got a more recent iPhone (iPhone 15 or 16) with the “Motion Button” above the amount controls? Holding that button acts as your Ringer Swap by default, however it is likely to be rebound to one thing else (System Preferences -> Motion Button). When you have an Motion Button, you need to have the Ringer state in your Management Middle. Swipe down from the very high proper of the telephone, and the Bell icon will both be “off” (like nearly all of different buttons there) which is the conventional state, the place the conventional state is when it WILL ring. However based mostly off your description the Bell icon may have a slash by it. Faucet it to cycle it.
One final risk is that you’ve Notifications for the telephone turned off. (System Preferences -> Notifications. Scroll all the way down to Telephone, faucet it and overview its settings.) Nevertheless, these settings being turned off would not have aren’t in line with the “bell with the slash by it” visible you described.
